Elise Hurst
WEDDINGS

Capture your big day in an original painting.
For brides looking to add a unique touch to their big day, Elise Hurst is a Melbourne-based artist who can capture your own very special moment on canvas. Hurst, who is an accomplished illustrator and portraitist, is available for hire to sketch part of your wedding and provide you with a beautiful keepsake that you will love for years to come.

With a background in portraiture and landscape painting, and the narrative skills of an illustrator, Elise can capture the essence of an event in full view of your guests. It is very rare to see an artist at work, and it is fascinating to watch a painting progress from a blank canvas to near-finished work.

OTHER EVENTS
Whether it be a fundraiser, festival, cocktail party or simply a celebration looking for something a little different, Elise can choose a painting subject to entertain your guests. She can paint the event itself or work on something from her Strangely Familiar series. These paintings are set in the 1920s - 1950s and feature a world where people and animals mix in the most sumptuous settings. Imagine a femme fatale cat or lion in a smoking jacket walking down a Parisan street. Elise works from reference photography and is able to create the whole work before your eyes. These are enormously entertaining paintings to watch being created. For examples of this series visit her exhibition site.

Pricing

$2000 includes Elise painting at your event for up to 3 hours and one completed oil painting on a stretched canvas (50-60cm). Each additional hour is $100. Please contact her for if you would like a larger canvas size or a demonstration only price (without keeping the painting). All prices include GST.

Some Practicalities

Elise paints in oils on a stretched canvas, using an odorless solvent (no smelly turps). She will bring her own easel and is extremely neat. All that she requires at the event is a small table beside her and adequate lighting to see what she is doing. Elise is a fast painter but there is usually some finishing work to be completed back in the studio, so she will take photographic reference as required. The finished work will usually be available between one and two weeks after the event, allowing for time for the oil paint to dry thoroughly. Elise does not frame the painting.
