The Night Garden
by Elise Hurst

New paperback edition by ABC Books, 2010

On a long rainy day Sally and her cat, Strange, sit at the bedroom window waiting for something to happen. Sally draws on the window "first tracing the trees, then changing the trees...". That night something wonderful and magical happens and the garden that she drew is brought to life. Now she just has to be brave enough to explore it!

Elise says... I always expected to have magical adventures but they never seemed to happen to me. When I began to write and illustrate children's picture books, I wanted to make sure that the magic could be discovered by anyone, anywhere. All you need is a little imagination, a little courage and for the moon to shine in just the right way. This book is the adventure I always wanted to have.

Tom Brown, Rose and the Midnight Cat,
and Where the Wild Things are,
