It’s time to cast your vote

Hello everyone! Now I know you all have good taste and that you know what you like when you see it – so I need you to lend me your talents. I have been asked for more ‘boy prints’ more often than you could believe. So… here we go. Below are two drawings that I think could fit the bill only I really can’t decide which one to go with. Please help! The one with the most votes will become a new print, coming out in time for the festive season.

Wading girl in the Press

This was cool! I just came across it… in the UK Marie Claire (Oct 2010 edition)… there’s my picture! No, not the one with the bra – the wading girl illustration. It was to publicise the Roger la Borde celebrations and creations for sale at Liberty in London. The collection got mentions all over the place but I loved that this had such a prominent image So many lovely things in that collection. I’m still trying to get hold of some of it myself to sell. I’ll let you know if I manage it!

And, speaking of the shop – I’m really happy with it. It seems to be working beautifully, I have lots of lovely things to share and nifty-post-packs for sending them wherever you might need them to go. Can you believe we’re so close to Christmas? I haven’t even thought of a tree yet.

2010 London Design Week sees Roger la Borde, the innovative design and publishing group, celebrate its 25th birthday with a creative pop up installation at design emporium Liberty which launches on 18th September.

Since it was founded in 1985, Roger la Borde has sought to bring high design values, style and quality to its cards and stationery, using renowned artists, talented illustrators and creative designers. To tie in with the birthday celebrations, it will launch its first collection of stylish homewares alongside a collection of limited edition prints from some of its best known artists, celebrating the art of illustration.

Alongside this Roger la Borde will launch a new range of stationery from a collection entitled Petit Sauvage. Petit Sauvage is the result of the company’s passionate commitment to hand drawn illustrations and the desire to champion idiosyncratic design.

Artists such as Rob Ryan, Elise Hurst and Su Blackwell are gaining international acclaim for their work – there will be original artwork and limited prints by them that demonstrate their ability to cross boundaries in terms of innovation.

…Australian Elise Hurst is an artist and illustrator who has won several awards for her work which is fairy tale in style, with delicate drawings of people and animals in a dream-like setting. Roger la Borde will be presenting a collection of enchanting notecards using her illustrations, tied in a bundle using string and sealing wax, and notebooks. Limited edition prints from Elise will be on sale at Liberty exclusively…

Roger la Borde will be at Liberty in the Carnaby Room from 18th – 30th September.

We have two markets this weekend and we have a debut…

Introducing TWO NEW PRINTS coming out ino the big wide world for the first time this weekend at the Sister’s Market in Brunswick and the Maker’s Market at the Abbotsford Convent. It looks like a stunning weekend (if it’s anything like today) so come and say hello to my new adventuring girls.

If you’ve never visited, you should come along. If you have already then you know this is always a good one. Don’t be put off by the scaffolding outside for all is quite normal within. I wonder what I should paint??

You just heard the opening of the new online shop.

Yes, I have put the prints and cards online with books soon to follow. Which means an easy way to preview some of what will be on offer at the market and a chance for interstate and international people to view and buy things online. We’re all safe and secure with ways to pay and ways to post so that your goodies arrive in happy fashion.

As always, you can pick things up from me and save on postage, or ask that I bring things to the market so they’re all ready for you and not sold out!

Book Week event

This weekend sees the kick off for Book Week around the country.

Here in Melbourne, festivities will be taking place at the Abbotsford Convent on this Sunday 23rd 11-3pm. There’s heaps happening and I’ll be there, demonstrating in the Illustrator’s Studio. So do come along and say hello. Books will be for sale at the bookshop and I’ll have some of my prints with me too.

I have just selected three of my favourite artworks from The Night Garden to release as limited edition prints. Each has a series of 50 and are beautiful Giclee prints on Hahnemuhle Bamboo paper. Prints will be available from me directly (either from the studio or my markets), Books Illustrated in Middle Park or Customs House Gallery in Warrnambool.
