Writing & Painting

I’m sitting in Cafe Bagatelles on Rathdowne st. It’s become a regular Monday pilgrimage when I have writing to be done. I sit in a good corner where the glare doesn’t stop me reading the computer screen, the draft is slight, the music is quiet and I can glance up at the world beyond the [...]

What a night!

I’m still on a bit of a high after an absolute knock-out of an evening! I had no idea an opening could be so much fun. We had a wonderful crowd of close to 300 people  – the wine from Crittenden Estate was Beautiful and much loved, the chocolate from Koko Black was sumptuous, we [...]

Inspiration

I can’t paint without music. I mean, I probably can but I wouldn’t want to. It’s the same with illustrating books and so it turns out that every book gets a soundtrack of music that keeps me in the mood. For this exhibition I seem to be hooked on… Sarah Blasko – especially As Day Follows Night [...]

Exhibition news!

While I’m working away on paintings there is also a lot of organisation happening behind the scenes. And I am thrilled to report that we now have a Victorian winery sponsoring the opening of the exhibition. The Crittenden Estate on the Mornington Peninsula has been stupendous in throwing their support behind the exhibition and will be [...]

not all berets and brushes

I forget sometimes how much organisation there is to be done to get anything happening properly. In the countdown to the exhibition I was thinking… how many weeks, how many paintings to be completed? I was looking forward to a hectic and creative time of rampant oil painting! But there’s so much more. This last [...]
