I have some tentative names for the exhibition and I’d love to hear your opinions. Please help! Do you think any of these conjure up my work (the animals oil-paintings series) or at least sound intriguing? I’ve had pages of ideas but these seem to be the closest and the ones that make it sound least like I’m a complete tosser. At least I really hope so… Help!

At the risk of sounding strange, I like either of “Strange & Familiar” or “Strange & Familiar Creatures” because I like the look of the ampersand. Perhaps if you are always going to associate your title with a picture, you don’t need to include the “creatures” bit?
Elise, how about these:
‘ODD BODS’
‘Oddly Familiar’
Tricky business, isn’t it?
Cheers

PS I wonder if animals think humans are odd bods?
hi else, i agree with peter, i like the &, and i love “Strange & Familiar” – it suggests we will see something we already know but with a bit of a different twist. however if you are using the title without images, maybe you could go for “Animaux: Strange & Familiar”. it looks fabulous by the way xx
I really like Strange Familiar. As well as being a satisfying combination of words, it conjures up all that delicious folklorish imagery of magic and animals – and your paintings are truly magical Elise. (Also, it’s the combination that stuck in my head all day after reading the blog this morning.)
I’m with Peter, “Strange & Familiar” sounds and looks great!
Best of luck!
I like ‘Strangely Familiar Creatures’. Why? The pictures all depict creatures other than humans in very familiar human settings and the animals chosen and their pose are all showing us different aspects of ourselves.
You all are fantastic! I’m still thinking but I’m leaning toward Strange & Familiar too. And Strangely Familiar. Ok, I’ll give myself one more day to decide.
