I just got an email tonight from a friend who mentioned that the CBCA shortlist is out. Putting down my pirates (the nib is splatting ink everywhere tonight), I had a quick look to see which friends are up there in all their glory. Some surprises, some well-deserveds, some omissions of my favourites, as will always be the case… and then on the Early Childhood Notables list – me! I had completely forgotten that The Flood would be up for this list. It’s written by Nigel Gray, illustrated by me and published by Windy Hollow Books. I wonder if they’ve noticed yet?
Anyway. I am thrilled to be in illustrious company, to have had a simple and sweet book be so noticed, and am full of congratulations and well-wishes for everyone else.

The Shortlists, Notables, Eve Pownall and Crichton lists can all be found here.
I have other news, but that will have to wait till tomorrow.

Heh, Congrats! Nigle is a reeeealllllly good friend of mine so I’m double happy on this news!
Nigle = Nigel….maybe I’ll Nigle him now.
Can you believe I’ve never met him. Isn’t that always the way? Please pass on my congratulations and “hooray for us!” if you do do the Nigle. xx e
Yay for you Elise!
Recognition that is well deserved!
Congratulations, Elise! Well deserved! *big hugs*
Ow shucks guys. Thanks
Yay and congratulations!
Congratulations Elise, that is fantastic, it looks like a cute book
Yay! Congratulations
wow – congratulations! that’s great news.
Oh thanks everyone!! I’ll have to get the book that says what the judges thought. The Flood is a simple and sweet book – not uber-splashy and impressive. It’s nice that things like that have a place too
