This has been a fun year for school visits.
It’s a fairly normal thing these days for authors and illustrators to go into schools to speak to the kids – especially around Book Week. I’ve been all over Victoria – from Yarrawonga up on the Murray, to Hastings down south. And everywhere I’ve gone I’ve done crazy big pastel character pictures. They’re such fun. Here are a few from the last school I visited in Croydon… We’ve had pirates and zombies, emos and nerds, evil geniuses and hippy gangsters, punks, hobos, teachers, psychos and flaked out superheroes. And every possible combination!

If I’ve been to your school and done one of these with your group – send me a picture. I never seem to remember to photograph them when I’m done and I’d love a record of the characters we’ve created together.

Hey Elise,
Did you go to Drysdale Primary School by any chance? My mum works there

Hi Bianca. Ooh I don’t know that I have… Where is that one? I hope there isn’t some other pink-haired illustrator that I’m in competition with. I’d have to change my colour… What year does your mum teach?

It’s out the other side of Geelong. She teaches grade 2 kids. She hasn’t actually mentioned any exotic-haired illustrators visiting, just thought I’d ask, it’s a small world you know
